No repressive methods to be applied: PM on cutting 10,000 state employees

Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan referred at the NA today to the document publicized by the former parliament speaker Arpine Hovhannisyan which is justification of expected 10,000 cuts of state employees presented by finance minister Atom Janjughazyan and deputy prime minister Mher Grigoryan to PM.

“The writ says that if it appears that there are 10,000 people not creating any result it is necessary to relieve the state system of them. And Republican party refers to it like what are you doing?! With such response they show how they imagine the state governance system – how can there be a result creating person in the state system. This response is important to understand how Armenia was governed for 20 years. What result creating people? Of course, they were not governed with that, they filled all the governance system with friends, relatives,” Pashinyan said.

Speaking about government’s actions, the PM said that the cuts will be brought to minimum, just the employees of repeating circles of ministries will be cut.

“For instance, there are heads of legal departments of ministries, the two cannot work in the merged ministry. People of not repeating circles will not be cut. Each will get a chance to prove readiness to work in new conditions and with new criteria,” Pashinyan said.

“We are not getting to apply to repressive methods, but I draw your attention to the circumstance that today there are people in the state governance system who do not do anything but waiting for interesting thing to be circulated to send it to their Republican leaders. This story shows everything. This is a diagnosis of everything that happened in the Republic of Armenia,” Pashinyan concluded.
