Artsakh cannot adopt Madrid Principles not having participated in the preparation and discussion of the document: Artsakh president spokesperson
Artsakh has not made part of negotiation process, thus in neither legal nor political regards it will not be right to accept Madrid Principles. How could we adopt a document which was worked out and prepared without us, spokesperson for Artsakh president Davit Babayan said, referring to the statement of Armenia’s deputy foreign minister Shavarsh Kocharyan that Madrid principles are the only document adopted by Armenia and Azerbaijan but not adopted by Karabakh.
“It is natural that we could not have adopted such document even if it was perfect. We have always stated that the official Stepanakert must participate in all phases of negotiations, starting from different meetings, discussion of issues, ending with working on serious documents. If we are not participating in them, naturally we cannot accept this or that document,” the interlocutor said.
Earlier in an interview with EurActiv, the Armenian PM said that Armenia is committed to constructive dialogue over Nagorno-Karabakh conflict aimed at establishment of lasting peace.
“We are committed to a constructive dialogue aimed at establishing lasting peace. To prepare the people of the region for a peaceful solution to the conflict, I have announced that the settlement should take into consideration the interests of all three parties; namely, Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan said in the interview.
