Fitch Ratings: Unsolved issue of Amulsar mine negative factor for foreign investments in Armenia
Fitch Ratings international credit rating agency has made a special reference to the issue of Amulsar gold mine considering it a negative factor for foreign investments in the country.
“Reducing the uncertainty regarding the resolution of the environmental dispute at the Amulsar gold mine could support export growth and foreign investment prospects,” the agency says.
The roads taking to Amulsar continue being closed. The environemntalists demand quitting the exploitation of the mine. Lydian Armenia company, in its turn, refutes the claims of environmentalists that the exploitation of the mine is dangerous for the environment.
The company representatives have stated many times that the closing of roads to the mine results in big losses for the company.
Earlier, one of the officials of the company stated that over 1,300 people lost their jobs due to closed roads and impediments created for company's activity.
During joint discussion of the issue with Armenia's PM, the latter stated that the decisions over Amulsar must be made on facts and not emotions.
