Azerbaijan’s membership to Eurasian structures to promote speeded-up settlement of Karabakh conflict: Russian official
Involvement of Azerbaijan in Eurasian integration and defense structures may support settlement of the Nagorno-Karabkh conflict, head of the committee on Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov said in interview with Media.az.
“I think it really will. Each rapprochement with the integration structures today and not only Eurasian but the CSTO too, would have helped to resolve the problem. I have always talked about it. But unfortunately, the OSCE Minsk Group, and particularly the co-chairing countries are not much interested in the peaceful settlement of some conflicts, the contrary, they escalate them. Each conflict, dispute especially territorial or regional must be settled with the participation of neighbors,” Kalashnikov said.
He said the neighbors will solve such disputes in a more speeded-up way especially considering the circumstance that they are interested in peace on their borders.
“So, it is necessary for the three leaders to gather and solve the issue. Of course, Azerbaijan’s membership to the integration structures would have had a positive impact on it,” Kalashnikov said.
