No soldier should leave Armenia bypassing parliament: Marukyan on Armenia’s mission in Syria
Head of the Bright Armenia faction Edmon Marukyan addressed to the NA chairman on behalf of the faction, demanding formation of a group by NA’s foreign relations standing committee to depart for Syria to visit the Armenian group implementing humanitarian mission there.
“If a soldier leaves the country all the procedures must be maintained,” he said, adding that the process must pass through the parliament.
“This time the parliament was bypassed and our soldiers left without the approval of the parliament. We suggest parliamentary oversight,” Marukyan said.
He said the foreign relations standing committee rejected his proposal at today’s closed session but an arrangement has been reached to think over other levers for parliamentary oversight.
“I do not imagine it, in general. If there is no visit, what shall we do now? I do not know,” Marukyan said.
