No political obstacles to deepen cooperation between Armenia and NATO
Elements of cooperation with Armenia and the level of ambitions is about that both NATO and the current government wish to have, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, and the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai said at a news conference today in Yerevan.
“I expressed during our discussions with the two ministers the NATO perspective that if there is more we can do for example in defense education, let’s explore what those are and we are certainly very open-minded,” Appathurai said.
He noted that possibilities of more cooperation between NATO, Armenia and other partners were discussed.
“Of course, NATO’s missions and actions are involving, and I discussed with the defense minister possible evolutions of Armenia’s contribution but that will be 100% up to Armenia to decide. From NATO point of view are no political obstacles to deepen cooperation. The main considerations are what Armenia would like and of course of both sides of resources,” Appathurai said.
