Bright Armenia faction head describes OSCE Minsk Group statement rather worrying
The statement of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs is rather worrying, head of Bright Armenia faction head Edmon Marukyan said at the NA briefing today.
“This is not first worrying statement and not the last one I think. The most worrying formulation is “future determination of the final legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh through a legally binding expression of will”, this, in essence, contradicts Armenia’s principle approach that the citizens of Artsakh have already implemented their right to self-determination on December 10, 1991 and which has mandatory legal force. Our side has claimed that this fact has already happened and conduction of another referendum will mean not to consider the results of the previous referendum,” Marukyan said.
He stressed that Bright Armenia party stated in the pre-election period and reiterates that it supports all the efforts of the authorities aimed at involving Nagorno Karabakh population into the process and return the Artsakh Republic to the table of negotiations.
“The authorities, PM and foreign minister must continue claiming that Artsakh should return to the table of negotiations,” he said, stressing that only in such case the negotiations will give results.
“I think it is clear for all that there is no one on Armenia to hand lands, and there is no one in Azerbaijan to recognize Artsakh. It is important to negotiate as negotiating is better than shooting at one another,” Marukyan stressed.
