All grounds for giving positive impetus to peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict exist: Miroslav Lajčák
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Miroslav Lajčák said he arrived in Armenia to reiterate the OSCE’s support to finding peaceful settlement to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Lajčák said today at a joint press conference with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.
“At the same time I express my absolute support to the actions and involvement of the Minsk Group co-chairs in the process,” Lajčák said, hailing the circumstance of reduction of casualties on the line of contact.
“I am convinced that all this will promote the implementation of multi-sided process of finding peaceful settlement of the conflict. Challenges are a lot, but I think that we have all the grounds to give positive impetus to the process, considering the developments of the past months,” OSCE Chairperson-in-Office said.
Lajčák also referred to the call on preparing the peoples to peace.
“I would also like to stress the importance of preparation of peoples to peace, their involvement in the events addressed to reinforcement of trust and reduction of risks. Indeed, we highly assess the meetings between the president and the prime minister as well as between the ministers, as well as the reduction of incidents on the border and consequently the reduction of number of human losses. We understand that the conflict has not been settled yet, but we are convinced that the stage by stage, step by step approach and the developing dialogue, as such, will result in at least small improvements in peoples’ lives,” Lajčák said.
