Only contract servicemen should keep the frontline: PAP submits corresponding bill
Prosperous Armenia faction has submitted a bill to the National Assembly on making changes in the law about Military Service and Status of Serviceman. The changes envisage not taking 18-year-old conscripts to the frontline immediately after they pass to service.
“Contract, experienced servicemen who are well aware of what frontline is should be taken there,” PAP MP Naira Zohrabyan said, stressing that conscripts having served at least one year should be allowed to go to frontline.
“This is our principle position. You cannot take 18-year-old inexperienced child to the frontline,” she stressed.
The MP said that another issue is the salary of contract servicemen. “You cannot ensure as many contract servicemen as necessary for defending frontline with 120-130 thousand salary. I think it is possible to find financial means for raising the salaries and this should be done urgently. Nikol Pashinyan has offered an option of raising their salaries by 10%,” Zohrabyan said.
