Yerevan budget to grow by 10 billion AMD

The amended variant of the Yerevan budget is ready and will be submitted for the City Council’s discussion at the extraordinary session. The amendments are agreed with the wide-scale works in the capital city.

“The envisaged 8 billion growth to be submitted for the City Council’s approval will be addressed to the implementation of a number of projects which were not implemented previously or implemented in small volumes but are of urgent necessity for the city,” deputy mayor Hayk Sargsyan said, adding that another 2 billion were added to the budget approved in December.

The deputy mayor stressed that a major part of the 10 billion will be addressed to the kinder-gartens with mayor Hayk Marutyan having spoken about them still in January at the meeting with the directors of the kinder-gartens.

The change of the budget envisages 20% growth of salaries of the employees, including the technical staff. About 1 billion AMD will be addressed for this purpose.

The opening of new groups for 1,000 children will raise the expenses up to 400 million AMD.

The other big expenses the urban authorities plan to address for the renovation of streets and pedestrian crossings. For full reconstruction and lightning works 500 million AMD have been envisaged against 0 of the past year.

Another 340 million AMD have been added for the creation of rest zones and parks in Yerevan.

“110 million will be addressed to the restoration of over 10 ha of wood territory, 150 million AMD will be allocated for installation of irrigation network,” the deputy mayor said.

About 170 million will be provided for different construction works among which is the new metro station, and rope way projecting works.

“The works will be carried out by attracting investments but the projects will be worked out by the municipality,” he said.

Money will be allocated to solve the issues of worn out elevators, breakaway buildings, solution of the issue of new garbage zone, purchase of medical equipment, solution of issue of stray dogs.

Besides, money will be allocated for reconstruction of theatres, sports schools.

The deputy mayor said the raise of the budget by 10 billion will not result in the deficit or growth of community debts. Everything has been planed and calculated.
