Aysor.am sent an inquiry to the government on February 21 to get clarifications over the transfer the response to which came today.
It says that Alexander Sargsyan has transferred not 18,5 million USD but 19,6 million.
Asked on what grounds Alexander Sargsyan transferred so much money to the state, what purpose it will serve, the government explained that a criminal case is being examined in the investigative department of the NSS, in the sidelines of which Alexander Sargsyan passes as a defendant.
During 2019 Alexander Sargsyan donated 19,6 million USD to Artsakh’s defense army for acquiring ammunition. The money was provided via bank transfer.
As to the statement of Nikol Pashinyan about Alexander Sargsyan’s 30 million USD kept currently under arrest and whether it will also be provided to the state, the government’s response said that the preliminary examination of the criminal case against Alexander Sargsyan and his son Narek Sargsyan continues at NSS investigative department and added that Alexander Sargsyan expressed readiness to pay all the tax obligations revealed during audit.
As to the claims of the parliamentary opposition and expertise circles that this is suspicious and not transparent deal, the government responded that during the preliminary investigation no arrangement has been reached with Alexander Sargsyan and that objective, complete and multisided investigation is proceeding.
