The Council of Europe supports democratic processes in Armenia: PACE President Liliane Maury Pasquier
Armenia’s Parliament Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan and PACE President Liliane Maury Pasquire discussed different issues on cooperation and contacts, Mirzoyan said wrapping up their meeting.
“We attached significance to the support of the European establishments to the democratic processes in our country during the past years and reiterated the position that after the April-May non-violent revolution the democratic processes are hence irreversible in Armenia,” the NA speaker said.
Mirzoyan noted that they also referred to the Armenian Genocide, human rights and bilateral cooperation issues.
The PACE president noted that during the meeting it has been reiterated that the Council of Europe supports the democratic processes in Armenia.
“We have reiterated our readiness of further support to the democratic processes. At the same time we have raised issues that need solutions and which Europe faces too – hate speech, gender equality, fight against nationalism,” she said, adding that these are challenges the whole Europe is facing and it is necessary to fight jointly against these phenomena for having calm and safe continent.
