Armenian parliament adopts bill on raising minimal pensions
The Armenian parliament adopted today at the second reading the bill on making amendments in the law on State Pensions.
The bill offers setting 25,500 AMD as minimal salary. It was backed by 111 lawmakers.
Deputy labor and social affairs minister Smbat Saiyan said that the initiative will exclude the extreme poverty among the pensioners. The bill relates to 18,000 pensioners who currently receive lower than the set 25,500 AMD.
The initiative will cause raise of the state budget expenses by 800 million AMD. The deputy minister also said that after the adoption of the bill recalculation will be made and the pensioners will get the sum for the first months of 2019.
