NA session fails today, may result in legal vacuum
Armenian National Assembly’s session failed today due to lack of quorum with just 44 lawmakers having been registered.
Speaking to reporters, Prosperous Armenia lawmaker Gevorg Petrosyan said he cannot tell whether the parliamentary majority failed the session with political motives or not.
He said no NA session will be held till April 1, time set by the Constitutional Court for the adoption of amendments into constitutional laws.
As to whether the non-implementation of the CC decision may result in legal vacuum, Petrosyan said, “I cannot consider me responsible for me. Yes, legal vacuum remains opened.”
By the way, NA speaker Ararat Mirzoyan invited Petrosyan to his faction but the PAP lawmaker said he was not aware of the causes.
It has been reported that 35 lawmakers of My Step faction departed for Artsakh that is why the extraordinary session did not take place due to absence of quorum.
The agenda of the session included issues on making amendments in Armenia’s constitutional laws. The Constitutional Court set April 1 as deadline for the adoption of the bills, in the opposite case, the specialists say legal vacuum may be created.
