Armenia’s parliament adopts bills of amendments in constitutional laws
The NA session continued after the return of My Steps lawmakers from Artsakh.
After ensuring the necessary quorum the parliament adopted the package of bills of amendments in a number of Constitutional laws for which the Constitutional Court set April 1 as deadline.
During the short session discussions about nominating “new candidate” in the post of the judge of the Constitutional Court launched yesterday continued.
Both Bright Armenia and Prosperous Armenia factions claimed that they back the bill stemming from the position that the authorized bodies may nominate the same CC judge candidate only once.
Justice minister Artak Zeynalyan though claimed that the Constitution does not ban presenting the same candidate several times.
My Step faction lawmaker Vahagn Hovakimyan said he would not vote as the situation is uncertain for him.
“It is important for us not to adopt a constitutional law which may be commented by our other colleagues differently,” he said.
Some of My Step lawmakers did not vote for the bill too, with few explaining it with technical reasons, while Taguhi Tovmasyan said she did not vote for it as bot the bill and her voting were important for her.
“I agree with my colleague Vahagn Hovakimyan,” Tovmasyan told Aysor.am.
