Armenian people won in April war, showed the bravery of spirit: deputy DM

Armenian people, Armed Forces, Defense Ministry before undertaking something must always remember the feat of the Armenian soldiers, volunteers during the four-day April war in 2016, deputy defense minister Gabriel Balayan stated in Yerablur Military Pantheon today.

“This day is symbolizing the unity of the Armenian people who are ready to any developments and to confront the challenges they are facing,” he said.

He stressed that the challenges have not changed, they are the same.

“There may be a bit more escalation or less escalation but in any case, at least today, it does not influence on the efficiency or cautiousness of the Armenian Armed Forces,” Balayan said.

He said he does not share the opinion that the Armenian arsenal is empty.

“We were not defeated in April war we managed to show the bravery of our spirit, the accuracy of the weapon the Armenian army had and has now,” the deputy minister said.

He stressed that the Armenian arsenal has been enriched during the past years.

As to the PM Nikol Pashinyan’s observation that the April war was about Azerbaijan’s entrance to the Eurasian Economic Union, Balayan said that it is more political assessment.

“It is more political assessment, I do not want to speak about what I have less information. I think the prime minister made such statement having corresponding grounds for it,” the deputy minister said.

He said hence there will be no preservation of borders but defense of borders which supposes transfer of some military actions to the territory of the enemy.

“Defense regime supposes certain actions in the territory of the enemy,” Balayan said.
