April war result of lost vigilance: Andranik Kocharyan
The issue of upgrading of the army is very important, chairman of the NA’s Defense and Security Standing Committee Andranik Kocharyan told the reporters in Yerablur today.
“There is no need of confrontation as of the moment, negotiation process continues, the situation is relatively peaceful. This peace must be used to upgrade the armed forces of Armenia and Artsakh,” he said.
As to the statement of the Defense Minister voiced from UN tribune which later was described by Azerbaijan manifestation of force, Kocharyan said that the Armenian side has always been committed to peace but while being shot from the Azerbaijani side it had no other way but to silence them.
“We must always strive to peace, the adversary must not have an opportunity to open fire and take our settlements. We must be invulnerable for which the armed forces of Armenia and Artsakh must be permanently upgraded. The statements about having strongest army in the region seem to loosen our vigilance,” he stressed, adding that the April war was the result of the lost vigilance as well.
“The army must always be ready for any developments. The existence of strong army will be a restrictive measure for the enemy not to fall into April-like adventures,” Andranik Kocharyan said.
