Criminal Code authorizes only prosecutor to instruct filing criminal case and not PM: Ombudsman
Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan is not aware of the Facebook post made by Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about his relative, but claims that just Criminal Code sets who may give instructions for filing criminal case.
“It clearly sets the circle who and what instructions may give for filing criminal case. I cannot comment exactly on this situation, I am not aware of it,” Tatoyan told the reporters today.
The reporters read out PM’s post after which Tatoyan clarified that according to the Criminal legislation only prosecutor and not the PM has an authority to instruct filing criminal case.
Yesterday late in the evening Armenia’s PM wrote in Facebook that with his personal instruction a criminal case has been filed against his relative for misuse.
“There is no doubt that the case will be fully examined and the guilty be brought to responsibility. This is new Armenia and no relative of premier may consider himself higher than the law, or privileged,” the PM wrote.
