Armenia's President meets with UN Secretary General
Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian who is in Jordan to participate in Global economic conference’s regional forum met today with the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
Attaching significance to the UN-Armenia cooperation, President Armen Sarkissian said that Armenia is actively involved in the works of the organization and its structures.
“We have quite inclusive and effective cooperation as well as a big desire to make it more intensive especially in the sidelines of UNESCO and UNICEF,” Armenia’s president stressed.
Armen Sarkissian stressed the big contribution Antonio Guterres has to the activity of Galust Gyulbenkyan Foundation being a member of the Board of Trustees for many years.
The interlocutors also exchanged views over the prospects of partnership in UN and its structures.
Armenia’s president highly assessed the UN assistance to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group which is the only format of Karabakh conflict settlement having international mandate.
The Armenian president and UN Secretary General welcomed the recent meeting between Armenia’s Prime Minister and Azerbaijani president and stressed that peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict has no alternative.
