Armenia’s DM’s statement cannot contradict provisions set in international documents: deputy DM

The statement of the Azerbaijani defense ministry addressed to Armenia’s Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan is just for domestic audience, deputy defense minister Gabriel Balayan told Aysor.am.

The Azerbaijani side was angered with the statement of Armenia’s Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan who said that “in case of necessity our combat groups may create a chaos in the back of the adversary.”

“The person who represents Armenian leadership speaks in the style of international terrorists voicing obvious threats directed to the peaceful population which proves that the current Armenian authorities are the ones creating chaos,” head of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s press department stated.

“I have no concerns regarding that statement as the whole world knows that their [Azerbaijani] statements and actions differ from each other. They make statements to please their own people,” the deputy minister said.

He said Davit Tonoyan’s statement has no relation to terrorism at all.

“Armenia has joined the international documents which define terrorism. The statements of our defense minister cannot contradict the provisions set in the international documents,” Gabriel Balayan stated.
