Clashes between supporters of Armenia’s Zartonk community head and people demanding his resignation end in shooting
Residents of Zartonk community of Armenia’s Armavir region have closed the railway as a sign of protest.
The population of the village demand resignation of the head of the community.
The situation became tense resulting in fight between the supporters of the head of the community and those demanding his resignation which ended in shooting.
Speaking to Aysor.am, head of the police press department Ashot Aharonyan said that one of the residents used hunting rifle.
“The officers of Metsamor department of Armenia’s police operatively responded to the call and prevented the possible irreversible consequences of the incident. The police officers unarmed the person and brought him and few other people to the police department,” Aharonyan said, adding that five people have applied for medical help.
“Two of them received light injuries from bullet’s fracture,” he said, adding that police officers keep the operative situation under control.
