Artsakh to host 2019 CONIFA European Football Cup
Artsakh will host the CONIFA 2019 European Football Cup.
Speaking to reporters today Artsakh Republic education, science and sport minister Narine Aghabalyan said that it will be a good opportunity to present Artsakh to the world.
“Artsakh football team is member of CONIFA since 2013 and from the very beginning it sought to become organizer of the games,” she said.
She said this year 12 teams have applied for participation in the games. They will arrive in Artsakh in late May.
“The games will be held in 4 stadiums of Artsakh – in Stepanakert, Askeran, Martakert and Martuni. It is too very important for us, we do not want to focus the event in the capital only and give opportunity to football lovers of different regions of Artsakh to enjoy the games.
CONIFA is the international football confederation for teams not part of FIFA. Its members include states, unrecognised states, regions, minority groups and sports-isolated territories. CONIFA is a strictly politically neutral charity, and is run by volunteers.
