Bright Armenia faction head claims about conflict of interests in parliament regarding cement issue
Bright Armenia faction is against bill on making amendments in the law on State Fee which relates to setting a state fee on imported cement.
While expressing the position of the faction, Marukyan said that the bill engages three sides – government, Prosperous Armenia and My Step.
“Bright Armenia is trying to understand what they are doing. A person called me from Vanadzor, saying that you in parliament want to raise cement price which will result in grow of construction works in the country. On the other hand, there is a competition issue. There are small producers who claim that if fees are set on clinker they will be left out of the competition field. We need to understand what to do. There are serious political issues. Our opinion is that the law should be recalled and worked on with the help of experts. But we also want to say that we see clear conflict of interests in the parliament between the political forces. And there is a problem here. We will study it and present concrete names,” Marukyan said.
Head of the faction cited the Armenian legislation, saying that the law demands lawmakers come up with statements about it.
“For us the citizen’s interest is a priority, we think that prices for cement will go up. But we are interested in the political side of the issue. Dear colleagues, come up with statement about conflict of interests as we are making our studies and will do it on our own,” Marukyan said.
