Revolution must go down and reach people’s houses: Levon Shirinyan
The biggest achievement of the Armenian revolution is the overthrow of the regime, political analyst Levon Shirinyan told Aysor.am, adding that the change of power created prerequisites for decriminalization of the country and prospect of creating democratic state.
“It is yet unclear how the new political leadership will succeed, it depends on them and on demands of the people. Of course, opportunity of changes has been given but how it will be used depends on us,” the political analyst said.
Shirinyan said that the revolution showed that the former authorities robbed the country, came up as anti-state force.
“Now we reached political revolution which opened way for transformations. These transformations must first of all be done in political, legal systems and economy which though we do not see now. For it efforts are necessary to be made,” the interlocutor said.
Shirinyan also said that the paradox is that the revolution took place entitled Deny Serzh but as a result Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan appeared in jail.
“The whole nation was shouting Deny Serzh, but it appeared that the criminal is Robert Kocharyan. I mean the attitude is not equivalent. The head of the regime was to receive political assessment,” the political analyst said.
As to the management skills of the new authorities, Shirinyan described them as ‘medium’. At the same time he drew the attention on the circumstance that even in conditions of not having new Electoral Code we failed to have desired Armenia either.
“This revolution was not done by them only. There were other forces as well who though did not appear in the parliament. In any case, we have reached a point that the revolution must go down and reach people’s houses. This is even a delayed process. I do not see any hastiness in government’s actions while there is no time left,” the political analyst said.
