News coming from Ankara not encouraging: Armenia’s FM on normalizing relations with Turkey
The Turkish authorities must have the courage to come into terms with their history, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan told the reporters in Tsitsernakaberd today, asked what with Ankara’s policy of denial is agreed with.
“This is the biggest issue, this is also a commandment that we, as a nation, have overcome the genocide,” the foreign minister said.
As to about possibility of starting new reconciliation process with Ankara, Mnatsakanyan said, “Unfortunately, the news coming from official Anakra are not encouraging. We have never said that the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Turkey is a pre-condition for normalizing the relations.”
