Belarus always acted against interests of Armenian people: political analyst

Alexander Lukashenko excessively overestimates his personal and his country’s opportunities, it is a nonsense, political analyst Levon Shirinyan told Aysor.am, referring to Lukashenko’s address to OSCE to meet and find ways of settlement of unsolved conflicts, including Artsakh.

“It is a nonsense, as neither Belarus is the country nor Lukashenko is the very politician to have any influence on OSCE or have a decisive voice in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement issue,” Shirinyan stressed.

“Belarus pretends itself to be a big role-maker, while in reality it just shows itself off, and it needs to establish civilized relations with Europe. This country is living by just blackmailing Russia,” Aysor.am’s interlocutor said.

The expert said Belarusian president’s urge is nothing but an attempt to leave the situation over Karabakh unchanged or to see Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan.

“This is an attempt to please the Azerbaijanis. It is an attempt to create impediments for Armenia. Belarus has always acted against the interests of the Armenian people. The situation has not changed. Now as well this country supplies weapon to Azerbaijan naming it just a pure pragmatism,” the political analyst concluded.

Earlier Lukashenko stated that the OSCE must not close eyes on the conflicts existing in the European region and called on the leaders of OSCE member states to meet and discuss the existing security issues.

“Many issues have gathered in our common home, which need to be settled – Nagorno-Karabakh, Transdniester, Ukraine issue has added and turned into a serious conflict, many describe it as war,” Lukashenko stated.
