Sanctions against Iran open additional opportunities for Armenia: Tigran Sarkissian

The works toward having free trade agreement between Iran and the EAEU is being complicated with the new package of sanctions against Iran, chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan said today after the session of the Eurasian inter-governmental council, adding that during the launch of negotiations with Iran the new sanctions were not in force.

“Of course it will result in some changes as we see that these sanctions seriously affect the trade implementation technology with Iranian partners, the transactions and fiscal actions,” Tigran Sarkissian said.

“On the other hand, the sanctions against Iran create additional opportunities for Armenia as Armenia may use its geopolitical position and offer some tools which may contribute to the increase of trade turnover with Iran,” Sarkissian said.

Tigran Sarkissian said that Armenia may become a bridge between Iran and EAEU.
