Court rejects petition to release Spayka director Davit Ghazaryan
The court rejected the petition of the defendants of Spayka director Davit Ghazaryan to change the arrest as a preventive measure.
“I do not want to offend personally the judge examining the petition, but we assess this decision as a mechanism of seizing money from the businessman,” one of the Ghazaryan’s attorney Arsen Sardaryan said.
The arguments of the court as if Ghazaryan may impede the investigation of the case while in freedom are just abstractive explanations.
“Mr Ghazaryan has never impeded the examination and the investigative body and the prosecutor admit it. Just abstractive judgments are being presented. The head of the company is an authoritative person and his authority may influence on the examination. What does it mean?” the attorney said, adding that there were no grounds for rejecting the petition while keeping Spayka director in custody may create serious issues in the economy.
According to the State Revenue Committee, Spayka company has evaided paying over 7 billion AMD taxes and customs fees to the state budget. Yerevan court of general jurisdiction ruled his arrest as preventive measure.
