Armenia’s NA speaker urges lawmaker Gagik Tsarukyan to come up with complete clarifications regarding the issue over him
Armenian NA speaker Ararat Mirzoyan has addressed a writ to head of Prosperous Armenia faction Gagik Tsarukyan after discussions with lawmakers of My Step faction that lasted for a few days.
In the writ the NA speaker mentioned that during the discussion of the bill on making amendments in the State Fee and law on Notifying about Implementation of Actions as well as during the interviews the statements and assessements voiced by Tsarukyan raised concern and certain doubts among colleagues and wide circles of public that the head of the faction is dealing with enterprenueurship while the Constitution and laws ban a lawmaker from being engaged in business activities.
“The attention of the law enforcers have been drawn to the circumstance and I was proposed to form an ad hoc ethics committee to deal with the issue. Taking into consideration that the acting legal regulations set wide political concept for creation and operation of the ethics committee and may give room for different speculations, and the circumstance that the creation of such committee is not within the authorities of the NA speaker, I think you should at least give complete public clarifications over the issue,” Mirzoyan said in the writ.
The NA speaker also urged the lawmaker to be more consistent and attentive toward the law setting regulations for cases of conflict of interests of the lawmakers.
“I will also consider it necessary to note that the political, legal, economic processes that took place during the past year in our country exclude sponsoring own business interests by using the political role even the usage of hidden mechanisms when de-jure lawmaker may pass his enterprise to accredited management but in fact continue directly managing it,” Mirzoyan said.
“Just the opposite, all the necessary legal conditions have been created for separation of political and business activities giving the citizens an opportunity to freely deal with what they prefer to. Moreover, I think that exclusively institutional approach must be a landmark for the future process finding its development and legal clarification in corresponding laws,” the NA speaker said.
