March 1 case trial to be unprecedented, all three presidents to be present: attorney general
The change of power in Armenia resulted in changes in the process of March 1 criminal case, developments, Attorney General Artur Davtyan told the reporters at the NA today, asked about March 1 case.
“The most important effect in this case is that the people started cooperating with the investigative body. You will see people giving public testimonies. The change of power resulted in unconstrained testimonies by the people, in cooperation with the investigative bodies,” Davtyan said.
The attorney general said that the people will see the whole process of the trial and will manage to give their assessments.
“It will be an unprecedented trial, you will see the three presidents of the republic in different legal status, you will see different public and political figures, former and present officials,” Davtyan said.
Asked whether the trial will be open or not, Davtyan said that some small parts will be conducted behind closed doors.
“But you will hear the testimonies of all involved,” the attorney general said.
The case has already been sent to court and involves four former high-ranking officials. The day of the launch of trial is not known yet.
