USA ready to support in Armenia’s development: U.S. official
The first session of Armenia-USA strategic dialogue ended in Yerevan today with the signing of an agreement by Armenia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent.
Speaking about the Armenian-American relations, Kent, who is also the co-chairman of the Armenian-American strategic dialogue, said that during the meeting conducted in Armenia wide-range of U.S-Armenia issues have been discussed.
He said the session lasted for eight hours which passed eight hours which “flew by very quickly”.
“U.S. comes in the spirit of partnership to support the Armenian people in developing Armenia that is prosperous, democratic, accountable and secure and in peace with its neighbor and this commitment brought us here and will keep us working for successful Armenia and Armenia-U.S. friendship,” the U.S. official said.
In response to reporters question about military-industrial cooperation and whether the issue was discussed at the meeting with the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan and whether the U.S. side has voiced concrete proposals.
In response the U.S. official said that this was the second meeting with the Armenian premier with the first meeting being held back in October. He said during the meeting a wide range of issues have been discussed.
“Nikol Pashinyan presented his vision for Armenia’s democratic development and we also talked about the situation in Nagorno Karabakh given the Unites States a role as a co-chair in the Minsk process and we talked about the opportunities that we can pursue in the future,” he said adding that the U.S. delegation had a number of meetings with Armenia’s government representatives and discussed all the Armenia-U.S. issues.
