USA hopes countries in South Caucasus to live in peace with their neighbors: George Kent
Armenia-U.S. relationship is assessed not by visits, but the content of talks, Deputy Assistant Secretary George Kent told reporters in Yerevan, responding to the question about less frequent visits of U.S. officials to Armenia.
Kent said during this period he met not only with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan but members of the Armenian government.
“Today at the session we discussed how Armenia can improve its justice system, fight against corruption, at the end of the day we were already speaking about protection of animals, clean water,” Kent said.
“We hope that all the countries in the South Caucasus will live in security and in peace with their neighbors, this is why we are Minsk Group co-chairing country working with Armenia and Azerbaijan to settle Nagorno Karabakh conflict,” Kent said, adding that they exclude the possibility of force and threat of usage of force in the conflict settlement.
