Head of ruling faction says setting up ad hoc ethics commission not purposeful now

The creation of ad hoc ethics commission is not purposeful now, head of My Step faction Lilit Makunts told the reporters today.

“There was a discussion in the faction and we came to the conclusion that it is better to wait for the conclusion of the law enforcers,” Makunts said.

As to the issue to set Standing Committee of Ethics in the NA as offered by My Step faction secretary Hakob Simidyan, Makunts said that currently they are studying on how the process should be launched.

As to whether this is an attempt to avoid responsibility for setting ad hoc commission, Makunts said, “It is not a issue of avoiding responsibility. The issue is to keep the basics of democracy strong. We must not be guided by today’s issues only. The situations may differ and we want everything to proceed with simple procedures,” she said.
