Judge rejects prosecutors’ petition to conduct today’s hearing in closed regime
The court hearing over preventive measure of Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan continues today with prosecutors having petitioned to conduct it in a closed regime.
The defense side objected the petition.
“The prosecutors ground their petition that testimonies may be published while the preliminary investigation has ended, the accusations have been approved and there is no issue of preliminary investigation secret,” Kocharyan’s attorney Aram Orbelyan told the reporters today.
The lawyer claims that there are no grounds for conducting the hearing in closed regime as the preliminary investigation is over and consequently there is no issue of publicizing any secret.
Orbelyan stated that the prosecutors petitioned to conduct closed hearing as today the extracts from testimonies of PM’s consultant, former head of the Armenia’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff’s Intelligence Department Arshak Karapetyan will be presented.
After studying the prosecutors’ petition the judge rejected it and invited all to the court room.
