Armenia’s position in CSTO secretary general appointment issue clear: Ruben Rubinyan
The position of the Armenian side is clear, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Standing Committee Ruben Rubinyan stated today, referring to the appointment of the CSTO secretary general at the May 22 session of the council of foreign ministers of the CSTO.
“Armenian side has expressed position over few principles. The key of the position is that we have a situation when the secretary general quits working and the further steps following this situation are not regulated. We have stated that the issue should be regulated in a working order.
According to the order, there is a period of tenure and this period belongs to Armenia,” he said.
Asked whether on May 22 Armenia will claim for its candidate to take the post, Rubinyan said the question’s addressee is representative of the executive branch.
After recalling Yuri Khachaturov who was charged with the overthrow of constitution the post of the CSTO secretary general remained vacant.
The responsibilities of the secretary general has assumed Valery Semerikov, deputy secretary general.
