Armenia’s people consider judicial power remains of former corrupted system: Pashinyan
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan convened today a consultation with the high-ranking officials. The meeting launched with the statement of Armenia’s PM.
In his speech the PM stressed that the developments of the past year show that there is no judicial power in Armenia that will enjoy people’s trust.
“I do not want to make judgments about the decisions made by the judicial power, it is not my authority. Irrespective of everything, it is obvious that the decisions of the judicial system are deeply distrusted by the people,” the head of the government stated.
“Armenia’s people know that they have formed executive power by the expression of their will. But people consider the judicial power to be the remains of the former corrupted system. If the judicial power does not have the trust of people, it means it does not have enough legitimacy which today is a direct threat to the normal life and security of our country,” Pashinyan stated.
He stressed that after being elected as country’s premier he took the commitment not to interfere into the activity of the judicial power and tried to keep this commitment.
“Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that the judicial system is not subjected to shadow and illegal influences mainly by the former corrupted system who are connected with each other with personal and political ties,” the PM stated.
