Armenia does not need Azerbaijan’s lectures: MFA spokesperson
It may only be supposed that Belarus candidate will be appointed in the post of the secretary general of CSTO on January 1, 2020 but it cannot be claimed as there is no corresponding decision, spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan told the reporters today.
“The decision is being made only by the members states of the organization based on consensus. The next rotation order starts from January 1, 2020. According to alphabetical order, the next is Belarus but what developments may take place during this period is not known,” she said, adding that the issue will be decided at Bishkek gathering.
As to the statement of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov that times works against “aggressor” Armenia, Naghdalyan said, “We have no need to be engaged into such debate. Peace is necessary for all the peoples of the region. Today Armenia is being presented to the world as a democratic country even in conditions of the unsolved conflict. The security of Artsakh and Armenia is ensured with clear actions and we do not need such lecturers on what is beneficial for who. The conflict settlement is beneficial for all the countries of the region, including for Azerbaijan,” Naghdalyan concluded.
