Senior Associate at International Center for Transitional Justice Ruben Carranza heads to Armenia
Senior Associate at International Center for Transitional Justice Ruben Carranza is heading to Armenia from the United States to help work out “transitional justice” program, Voice of America reports.
He said Armenia needs to work out criteria to be applied for all for the process not to be perceived as political vendetta.
“I understand the alternative of Prime Minister Pashinyan – it is impossible to implement “transitional justice” without confrontation of those who will be brought to responsibility for the crimes they have committed previously. They will oppose, they will lose the embezzled money to confront, they will use the only establishments left under their influence to fight against the accusers and investigators,” he said, adding that in case of Armenia issue of “seizing the state” may raise.
“I mean that the former officials seized the state. It is not a unique case, it happened in other countries as well with the new authorities of which we are working too,” Ruben Carranza said.
