Transitional justice must filter the system, form independent judicial system: NA speaker
It is not a secret that Armenia’s judicial system has issues gathered for years and which have become a trouble on our head, Armenia’s NA speaker Ararat Mirzoyan said today at the discussion of Transitional Justice.
“The chief goal of the transitional government is the formation of judicial system and not to sharpen the existing issues, but give solution and reach public reconciliation,” Ararat Mirzoyan said.
The NA speaker presented the agenda of the session, stressing that they are ready to listen about different visions on how to implement transitional justice and what tools to use.
Mirzoyan noted that it is important to understand the necessity of giving legal-political assessment to the past developments.
“It is necessary to understand whether the judicial system represents the citizens of not. At the end I would like to note what the transitional justice is: it is not formation of ‘troika courts’ or extraordinary courts when different people may gather and make decisions. The transitional justice must clean, support, filter the acting judicial system, form independent system. This is the most important message we must keep in minds,” Mirzoyan said.
