Armenia’s DM, ICRC representatives refer to issue of Armenian captive in Azerbaijan
Armenia’s Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan received on May 27 representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross led by the head of the ICRC Yerevan Office Claire Meytraud, Defense Ministry’s press service reports.
During the meeting the interlocutors discussed issues on learning the fate of the missed during the Karabakh war as well as issues on combining works of commission dealing with the issues of Armenian captives, hostages missed and ICRC.
The interlocutors referred also to the fate of the Armenian citizen Karen Ghazaryan from Berdavan community of Armenia’s Tavush region who crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and sentenced to 20 years in prison after a staged trial.
Davit Tonoyan and Claire Meytraud attached significance to the necessity of coordinated work between ICRC Armenia and Azerbaijan offices to ensure the right of regular visits of Ghazaryan as well as exchange of letters between family members.
