CSTO important element of Armenia's security system: PM
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received today candidate of the CSTO secretary general post Stanislav Zas and Belarusian ambassador to Armenia Igor Nazarchuk.
“I am happy that an arrangement has been reached for you to take the post of the CSTO secretary general from January 1, 2020 on the basis of rotation. The CSTO is one of the key elements of Armenia’s security system and we are interested in the effective activity of the CSTO. The activity of the structure in our region must contribute to the preservation of balance and peace in our region,” Pashinyan said.
He said the CSTO member states must act in accordance with the charter of the organization and expressed hope that Zas will contribute to the raise of efficiency of the cooperation among the member states in security sector.
In his turn Zas said that he will undertake all the possible measures for raising the structure’s effectivity.
Pashinyan and Zas also referred to the issues of military-technical cooperation, equalization of military balance in the region.
