Situation with Henrikh Mkhitaryan unveiled Azerbaijan’s lies about preparing people for peace: expert

Henrikh Mkhitaryan made a right decision not to leave for Baku to participate in the Europa League final to be held in Azerbaijan’s capital on May 29, expert in Azerbaijani affairs Anzhela Elibegova said.

“It is not the first case when Mkhitaryan was to go to Baku but did not do that,” she said, adding that not granting visas to Mkhitaryan’s fans from different countries speaks about the hatred toward Armenians in Azerbaijan.

“I think the Azerbaijani authorities did it not being able to ensure these people’s safety from common citizens,” Elibegova said at a news conference today.

The expert said during the recent period Azerbaijan and Armenia have been stressing that they are ready and should prepare peoples for peace and reduce aggressive manifestations toward each other.

“But the situation with Henrikh Mkhitaryan was enough to show that it was an absolute lie and that Azerbaijan is not getting prepared for peace but it is getting prepared for war,” Elibegova said.
