As of now vetting to be applied in judicial system only: Makunts

Armenia’s My Step faction has worked out and will present bill on instituting vetting in Armenia.

Faction head Lilit Makunts told Aysor.am that the necessity to work on such bill raised in the sidelines of applying transitional justice.

Makunts said the vetting will be instituted in judicial system only.

“You know that vetting may be applied to all state bodies but as of the moment we are inclined to apply it only in judicial system. I do not know what the future actions will show and what we will have as a result of discussions, but as of now we are inclined to apply it only in judicial system,” the head of the faction said.

Makunts said that responses come to the bill including from non-parliamentary forces who express readiness to support in applying the system.

The head of the parliamentary majority added that such tool was previously applied in the state bodies and specialists may voice suggestions even without being familiarized with the bill.
