Baku tries to put blame of its non-constructive policy on Armenia and Artsakh: MFA spokesperson
The proposal to form relevant atmosphere for negotiations belongs to Armenia, spokesperson of Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Anna Naghdalyan told Aysor.am.
“The Armenian side cannot reject what it has proposed on its own. The arrangements reached in Dushanbe were aimed at the creation of the necessary climate, and they are still mainly preserved. Armenia and Artsakh are loyal to their commitments,” Naghdalyan said, referring to the statement of the Azerbaijani MFA accusing the Armenian side in murdering Azerbaijani serviceman and claiming that Armenia's calls about creation of atmosphere of peace are false and that Armenia aims to make the negotiation process fail.
“As you know, Artsakh has categorically denied the information about murder of Azerbaijani serviceman and it would have been right for the Azerbaijani side to conduct inner investigation to find out the reality before voicing accusations,” the spokesperson said.
Naghdalyan stressed that in case of existence of mechanism of investigation of ceasefire violations it would have been impossible to spread misinformation about ceasefire violations.
“It is necessary to note that the mechanism has not been created till now due to Azerbaijan’s refusal. In the created situation we stress the necessity of implementation of arrangements reached at Vienna and St. Petersburg summits including the one on creating investigative mechanism,” she said, adding that it is remarkable that Baku spreads news accusing Armenian side in the murder of serviceman on the days of the visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to the region which she said is an attempt to fail the negotiation process and the upcoming meeting.
Naghdalyan also stressed that by disseminating false news Baku is trying to put the blame of its non-constructive policy on the other sides – Armenia and Artsakh.
“It shows how much Baku is ready to respond to the mediatory efforts addressed toward settlement of the issue and register a progress in the talks. Armenia is loyal to its commitment of peaceful settlement of the conflict and will continue contributing to the creation of necessary atmosphere by the implementation of the achieved arrangements,” Naghdalyan said.
As to the statement of the Azerbaijani MFA about Azerbaijani tolerance toward the Armenians living there and Armenia’s domestic political issues, Naghdalyan said, "It is remarkable that a representative of a country where not only existence of Armenians is not allowed but even their surnames on T-Shirts speaks about Armenians there,” Naghdalyan said, adding that anti-Armenian pogroms in Sumgait, Baku are the result of the existing intolerance in Azerbaijan and the impunity of the policy of Armenophobia which reached its top with the glorification of Safarov and Azerbaijan’s aggression in April 2016 accompanied with devious brutalities.
“As to Armenia’s “domestic political issues” we do not waste time to explain the elementary rules of activity in democratic society,” Naghdalyan concluded.
