Russia gives temporary asylum to Armenian ex-official Mihran Poghosyan
According to Pastinfo, Russia has provided temporary asylum to ex-official Mihran Poghosyan.
The right to temporary asylum can be prolonged up to few times until a decision is not made for providing or not providing political asylum.
Recently 168 Zham reported that Poghosyan’s preventive measure has been changed from custody into home arrest.
Mihran Poghosyan is accused of big amount of embezzlement, abuse of power.
The Special Investigation Service declared about his search on April 15 and on April 19 in the evening Poghosyan was arrested in Russia’s Karelia.
Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s office reported that all the necessary documents were sent to Russia to start the extradition process. On April 23 it became clear that the Russian court satisfied petition to arrest Poghosyan for 40 days. A day later Poghosyan’s lawyer declared that his defendant has applied to Russian authorities to get political asylum.
On June 2 his 40-day arrest date expired.
