New air carrier to implement flights to Tehran and back from June 15
New air carrier – Armenian Airways – enters Armenian market starting regular Yerevan-Tehran-Yerevan flights from June 15.
Speaking to Aysor.am, director of the company Arlen Davudyan said initially the flights will be carried out thrice a week and from June 24 everyday.
“The tickets are already for sale. We have many customers and many interested. Currently the flights will be implemented by BAe 146-300 plane intended for 112 passengers,” Davudyan said, adding that the second plane will soon be operated too. He said it is intended for the flights to Russian towns – Sochi, Krasnodar, Minvodi.
The company’s director said the price for one-way ticket will cost 69,000 AMD ($145) and to Tehran and back to Yerevan 102,800 AMD ($215). He said the duration of the flight is 1,5 hours.
As to the planes’ safety and general technical condition Arlen Davudyan said they are completely safe. He stressed that they have all the necessary documents proving the worthiness of exploitation of the planes.
As to whether the sanctions against Iran do not impede the activity of the company, the director said flights to Iran are not banned.
“These sanctions do not touch us. We have not received any warning,” he said, adding that he cannot say now what will happen then.
