International donors to be engaged for raising salaries of judges: Armenia’s PM
International donors to be engaged for raising salaries of judges making them 2,5-3 million AMD, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told the reporters today.
“We are in contact with our international partners and we say that we cannot raise the salaries of the judges essentially now. If our international colleagues assist us in creating new judicial system during the upcoming three years, if we manage to find new, serious specialists to work in the anti-corruption court with high salary and the people will see in these three years that having independent judicial system is good and useful for the state, we may convince people that we can pay judges from our budget,” Pashinyan said.
“The model is to create anti-corruption court, try to convince international donors to take the whole financial burden regarding salaries of judges. The people will see that independent judicial system is useful for the state and every citizen. In such case during these three years we will manage both raise pensions, do everything and then tell people that the judges must get 2,5-3 million AMD salary as we all need it,” Pashinyan stressed.
The head of the government stressed that the issue has been discussed with international partners.
“They have taken it into consideration. Now the works must continue for them to assist Armenia,” the PM said.
