Parliamentary ad hoc committee to study April war circumstances may become tool to exert pressures on Armed Forces: analyst
The April war circumstances should be studied and the reality should be presented to public, analyst Arpine Melikyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
She stressed that there are issues that should be revealed but there are a number of concerns regarding the activity of the ad hoc investigative committee.
“The first one relates to the people involved in the committee, how much they are aware of military activities, whether they will be able to objectively examine the circumstances of the military actions,” she said, adding that there are a number of people in the committee who are far from being military experts.
Melikyan also stressed that the creation of the ad hoc committee may have some political sub-context.
“It is not excluded that the conclusion made by the committee will target the so-called ‘counterrevolutionaries’. The ad hoc commission may become a tool to put pressures on the leadership of the armed forces of Armenia and Artsakh which in its turn may negatively affect the efficiency of the army,” the analyst said.
She said the reason of such concern is the statement of the chairman of the committee Andranik Kocharyan who said that revelations will take place and tough decisions will be made.
“This statement already has a political sub-context,” the analyst said.
“The parliament is political body while for studying the April war circumstances it is necessary to form a group of military experts,” Melikyan said.
