Municipal elections in Abovian showed absence of revolutionary euphoria existed in 2018: expert
The elections in few communities in Armenia on Sunday must give food for thought to some political forces, these elections showed that the revolutionary euphoria existing in the country for months does not exist anymore, political technologist Armen Badalyan told Aysor.am.
“The elections showed that the Civil Contract party unlike the Republicans does not nominate its candidates in all the communities,” he said, adding that either the party does not have enough human potential to cover all the communities and win or it does not want to privatize all the communities.
As to elections in Abovian, the expert said it is a separate topic for discussion.
“We have seen that the incumbent mayor defeated the Civil Contract candidate with 400-vote difference. The candidate was supported by the prime minister, who arrived in Abovian and even held a march. While the PAP did not display obvious support to its candidate,” the expert said.
This defeat must give the Civil Contract candidates food for though for them to understand that the PM’s rating is not the same as previously and he cannot ensure their victory by a march only, it is necessary to give political content.
“Just uttering the word revolution you will not reach success. As to the PAP must openly support its candidate,” Badalyan said.
He also noted that it is necessary to understand that these processes are not of fatal significance for Armenia.
This is common electoral process of which all the political forces must pick lessons,” the expert said.
Summing up, Badalyan said that it may be clearly stated that the revolutionary euphoria existing during the past year ended. It does not exist anymore.
