Manvel Grigoryan faces amputation due to newly acquired disease: lawyer

State authorized bodies are undertaking illegal actions systematically, Levon Baghdasaryan, lawyer of ex-lawmaker Manvel Grigoryan told the reporters today.

“If after my today’s statement the authorities will not give assessments to the illegalities, the conclusion will be that total revenge is being instituted against Manvel Grigoryan,” the lawyer said.

He said months ago when he applied to European Court of Human Rights for undertaking immediate steps and transporting Grigoryan to civilian hospital, the Armenian government immediately responded and transported Grigoryan.

“But with unknown reasons the treatment lasted for 2-3 months and days ago a writ was sent to Nairi medical center by the medical service department of the penitentiary, informing that their hospital has all the means to ensure Grigoryan’s treatment. It means they did not care of the government’s written position and transported Grigoryan to initially Kenton penitentiary and then hospital of convicts from where they transported Grigoryan to civilian hospital already in coma,” Baghdasaryan said.

The lawyer said consilium of doctors was convened which registered that besides about 30 grave diseases he had, another 3 ones appeared.

“I will not voice them, but as a result an amputation will be conducted. The person’s health condition reached such a phase. When Manvel Grigoryan was arrested he had 3-4 grave diseases and was under intensive control of doctors. Just in a year this person acquired 30 grave diseases,” Baghdasaryan said, adding that in case of absence of any response by corresponding bodies he will apply to ECHR.
